This book, 'Divergent' is about the protagonist, Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world a society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. Being in Abnegation throughout her life, she realises that she is actually a divergent, having equal aptitude for three factions: Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless.But she is warned never to share this information with anyone for fear of her life. On Choosing Day, she decides to join Dauntless where it will change her path in life forever and this is where she meets Tobias "Four" Eaton , the instructor to the initiates. It is from here where the plot gets interesting and a roller-coaster ride, depicting the growing relationship between 'Tris' (Beatrice) and 'Four' (Tobias) and how Tris struggles to keep up and survive in a new faction and at the same time desperately trying to keep her identity a secret from the others in her faction. The series of chained events to this novel will sure be a thumbs-up to many who are previously fans of the Hunger Games triology.

Some people may think that there is no uniqueness in the novel and it is almost like an adaptation to other novels, but there are hidden meanings in the words and the plot waiting for us to uncover them.
